Hi, I’m Chuchu from Malaysia. As the nightingales sing among the green willows and the bright moon lights up the sky, today marks the Chinese solar term Xiaoman, or “Lesser Fullness of Grain.”
At this time of year, up north, my farming buddies are watching the wheat fields plump up—nature’s prelude to a golden harvest. Meanwhile, down south, the stylish dudes are switching to summer wellness mode as the rivers swell toward fullness. It’s a seasonal scene where north and south move in step—everything growing, almost full, but not quite.
And that’s exactly why there’s Xiaoman-"lesser fullness "- but not Daman or"Great Fullness" in traditional Chinese wisdom. The ancients nailed it: "The moon wanes after it’s full; water spills when it overflows." Xiaoman is life’s golden rule. A slightly topped-up bank account, a moderate binge-watching streak, or a just-right number on the scale, who says that’not the real wisdom of life?
The wheat's still filling out, but we're totally here for summer joy! We’re always chasing better, but this summer, may we all find our own Xiaoman—just enough to feel full.
